Hello there, I’m Chuck Dowling and I’ve been on this thing we call the internet since the early 1990s. There’s a picture of me somewhere here on this page. Hello. I made websites in the 90s. Then those went bad so we all moved away from websites in favor of social media. Then that went bad and now we’re all moving back to websites again. Well, I am. I dunno what you’re going to do. Anyway, this site isn’t ideal but it’ll do for the few remaining years we have left.

I chose the name Kung Fu Arcade because it’s two things I really like: kung fu movies and video games of all kinds, including pinball. I really like Mothra too but I couldn’t work that into the title in a way that sounded good/wouldn’t get me sued by Toho. But that’s what this hub is for basically. It’ll get you to most of my creative endeavors on the internet, including my Twitch channel where I stream old and new video games from time to time. Those videos get archived to The Oldest Gamer, a YouTube channel where I also do reviews and retrospectives. Speaking of YouTube, you probably know me best from Watercooler Films, where for over a decade I reviewed 31 Horror Movies in 31 Days.

Also on YouTube you’ll find The VHS Archives where I’m uploading all my old VHS tapes from the 90s. And a sub-project of that is The ABC25 Archives, a neglected channel where I hope to one day archive all my tapes from my time working at the local ABC affiliate in town.

I would love to be able to import my Letterboxd reviews here as I use that website quite regularly, but there doesn’t seem to be an elegant solution for that yet. Still, I would love it if you followed me there. My movie passions at this point are the aforementioned martial arts movies, Godzilla stuff, horror, b-movies of all kinds, erotic thrillers, and TV-movies from the 1980s for some reason. These are my tastes at this point, and there’s no sense in branching back out. Time is short. The only social media I still have at this point is Bluesky, which hasn’t gone terribly wrong so far. You should follow me there if you’ve read this far. I’ll do my best to keep this place updated. Might blog from time to time. Who knows? Such endless possibilities.

Thanks for stopping by. Be well.

Chuck
